Champagne and Aishihik FN's and Royal BC Museum Launch Book on Man Found in a Glacier in 1999

CAFN elders call the man " Long Ago Person Found."

The Champagne and Aishihik First Nations and the new Royal BC Museum now have a book published, detailing the history of a person found frozen in a glazier.

Approximately 18 years ago, three hunters stumbled upon the remains of a man on an unnamed mountain in the Tatshenshini-Alsek Park, within the First Nation's Traditional territory.

CAFN says the man's story faded from memory and the elders decided that they would call the discovery Long Ago Person Found.

The First Nation says the man's remains were preserved in glacier ice, which offered answers to the traditional knowledge and experience of First Nations people of how the man lived and died.

The book is 704 pages, illustrated with colour and black and white photos and can be purchased through the Royal BC museum.
