A 25-year-old Dawson City resident, Silver-Lee Vijay Tucker, has been charged with five firearms-related offenses after a midnight shooting incident on April 7, 2025, in the downtown area.
According RCMP media release Moday April 14, the Dawson City RCMP received reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Princess Street and Second Avenue at midnight on April 7, 2025.

Tucker faces charges including careless use of a prohibited firearm and unsafe storage. He was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17, 2025.
The RCMP's efforts to combat firearms offenses highlight concerns about "ghost guns" – unmarked and untraceable firearms often manufactured or assembled from parts. According to the Canadian government, it's already illegal to manufacture or possess a firearm without proper licensing.
