The Canadian Armed Forces were in Whitehorse on Saturday for the annual Kingscote Air Display. Ten aircraft and their crew representing four Royal Canadian Air Force squadrons across western Canada were on hand to give Yukoners a close-up and personal look at the planes and helicopters used by Canadian Search and Rescue teams.
Lieutenant Alexandra Hejduk is the Public Affairs Officer for the Kingscote Air Display. She's very proud to be a part of this annual event and what it means for the North. She said it was a great opportunity to visit the north and support the annual Kingscote Air Display
Captain Joel Anderson is the Pilot of the CC-115 Buffalo, which is a Search and Rescue Aircraft out of Comox BC. He said his mission is to rescue so that others may live. He said it's all about saving lives.
Lieutenant-Colonel Rhonda Stevens is the commanding officer of 442, Search and Rescue Squadron out of COmox, BC. Her job is to make sure everyone in her squadron has what they need to do their part. She says she gets to work with highly qualified professionals bringing people home safe and sound and it doesn't get any better than that.
The Royal Canadian Air Force presence at the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport this weekend showcased the Search and Rescue aircraft and crew that support the Yukon when called upon to do so.
